About the Practice

Integrative Elements New Mexico is the solo private practice of Michelle "Chela" Esquibel Itzli Quiahuitl.

This is a holistic integrative practice working through an intersectional lens toward the decolonization of mental health therapy and the liberation of oppressed and marginalized people.  It is geared toward helping you experience healing in your life in a way that is engaging and meaningful.

Some of the modality options you have for therapy include: EMDR (Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization), IFS (Internal Family Systems), Emotional Freedom Technique "tapping" (EFT), walk-and-talk sessions, nature-based practices, and culturally rooted practices. You may also feel drawn to dreamwork and creative expression to assist in your process.

Whatever approach calls to you, you can feel secure in the highly skilled, trauma-informed, intuitive, and empathetic way I will engage with you and assist on your healing journey.

In addition to mental health therapy, trainings, pláticas, and workshops are also offered. The topics of Refugee Mental Health and Curanderismo/traditional healing are popular.

Continuing education credits (CEUs) may be available for these trainings.

Other trainings and workshops can be crafted to your specific needs.

Philosophy

My philosophy is to de-stigmatize mental health and make easy access to quality, affirming care for the traditionally underserved.

Cultural sensitivity and a trauma-informed approach is what leads me in the work of cultivating resiliency of the human spirit.

I believe in the healing power of nature to help with what ails, and I also believe que la cultura cura, culture cures.

I strive to promote anti-racism and social justice, including rights for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Transsexual, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Pansexual, and Two Spirit (LGBTTQQIAP2S) people, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), neurodivergent folks, and disabled people.

I also work toward decolonizing the healing systems we rely on and dismantle systems of oppression.
